As I'm going down the road towards East Texas all of a sudden I see a cleared area from a brush fire. The tall pines where there and just the bottoms where touched by the flames. The sky had a guilty look to it as if it was the culprit lightning the woods. It was a strange and exciting scene as you pass everything went back to a normal Forrest.  By Artist Doug Carter. 7 X 5 Oil Painting.Sky Fire.

Captured the sun just breaking the horizon. Was heading out early without my paints took a quick photo reference. With my creative eye and lighting of the dark shadows and toning down the sky came up with this gem.

Painting the skyscape series has been very exciting it could go on forever. I wanted to capture the movement in the sky with this one. If you listen you can almost hear the wind whipping through the trees. Nature is such beauty all by itself and painting it is endless.

Here's something you don't see painted every day. Hat Rack full of family favorites ready for the next outing. Was thinking about the opportunity to paint all theses different colors and styles all at once. Changed some of the hat colors to protect the innocent no just to have better color harmony. Ant thought comment feel free.

I only have a few more reference photo's left from my Arizona trip. I will make the best of the last few and enjoy every moment of it. The Arizona Blue painting has finally set the stage for something allot more cooler.
This is when all the action begins and the dessert come alive . I feel like this has a beauty all to itself very glad I painted this one. I want to thank everyone again for the responses and the support.

Peace not of this world isn't that what we all look for. This painting calms me down very relaxing to view. This is a scene a very good friend of shared with me and I wanted to paint it and share with you. The ocean wheat grass waving in the beach breeze as the sun settles down for the day. That is what I will call this one

I  live in East Texas however there are few cactus here not like the ones they have in Arizona. I was amazed at the size and shapes of all the different kinds. Also the mountain ranges surrounding you as we travel through the national park.Keeping with my theme of fire and ice as the sun is trying to break through the cloudy sky above. Lots to see and look at as we journeyed for miles once in a wile you would see and roadrunner or rabbit a few birds.  Painted by Artist Doug Carter,. Oil Painting 7 X 5 .

Sky's are the most fascinating to paint they change all the time and the values are so subtle to capture. We have some beautiful sky's in Texas and these clouds caught my eye. Doug Carter Artist, 7 X 5 Oil Painting.

Painting is so much fun can you tell.? Of course it only takes 25+ years to learn how to do it. I feel like Dept and glory have been the two words that capture this scene. You can also see my other theme of Fire and Ice. Sit a spell and enjoy this view there are a few more to go.

Something a bit cooler , I went from fire now to ice.
About a month ago I had this strange feeling as I was walking to look over my shoulder. This is what I saw the morning mist and the moon playing peek a poo with me. One minute you would see it the next it was gone. I thought how do I capture this moment and do it justice? The colors are very muted and yet peaceful I was very careful to keep all the tones close on the sky. This is my painting of "MORNING MOON" thanks for looking.
