"COOLING CALM"

Looking at the finished painting  all I could think of was what a beautiful blue sky and how calming and inviting it was. I used warm and cool blues with hot highlights of the sun rays breaking the edges of the cloud. The ocean looks on fire and yet the mood overall is cool and calming .

WARM & HOT

SOLD
Inspired by the weather we have been having in Texas. Yesterday it was 72 in the morning by last night it was 32. This morning even colder with a fire in the fireplace. This weather in Texas is amazing. So I felt like the windy sky was cooling and the ground was still very warm from the morning sun.. That's why I call this piece Warm & Hot.  6X6 Gesso Board.

"DAZE"

SOLD
Earth Sky and Clouds you would think easy enough right .? Wrong, separate OK together complex. I think this one works well because of the complex differences. Worked hard on the calm blue sky and the contrast of the glowing red clouds and earth. Almost abstract yet realism great mix of the both.

"OPEN FIELD"

SOLD
"Open Field" I like this title because the the view is open to all however  it was posted no trespassing. This brings me to a question does the title on the painting matter. I say this because I was first going to call this piece "No Access". However I have heard comments about the titles of painting that seemed to bother ? confuse the viewer. So Does that really matter to you?
Well back to the painting this view went on for ever it seemed. The spot just was so calming and relaxing I really enjoyed it. The other calming effect was all the blues war and cool and of course the breeze that afternoon was delightful.

" SPIRITUAL MOMENT "

SOLD
I had one of those times when I needed and answer and it sure would be nice to get a sign you could see from heaven. This is an abandoned old church on a hill in East TX. You cant even drive up to it because of the holes in the drive. As I sat there in deep thought by myself asking and spending some quiet time I just stared at the building. You have heard me rant before about the what ifs of a scene .
Well I did have the sun break through the sky and it hit this building and it warmed my heart and I came to peace about my thought. And this was my Spiritual moment ,Thank You Lord for your answer in my life.

"GOLDEN ROSE"

SOLD
This is another rose that was next to "Glistening"  rose painting previously posted. I very much want to do a larger piece with all the elements captured that day including all the bees.  It was very hot and like I said the bees where very busy doing there jobs on the flowers.  I actually caught them in flight with my camera will have to give that a try. You can also see the light breaking through into the layers of rose petals and lighting up the centers.  What do you think wanted to know .

"STILL RESTING"

SOLD

I see these cars and trucks just sitting in the fields of East Texas. I'm attracted to them because I know there is a story about each of them. Sometimes I can just imagine and wounder. Where they have been and what have they seen in there day.
I also enjoy painting them in the raw will the rust and ware and tare of life. I also hear story's from the people who buy them and they often say this reminds me of ___________   fill in the blank. or this was just like the family car or my dad had one he just loved. I would very much like to hear your story if you willing to share. Side note I have no idea of the make and model or year could you help me.

My Art Story

My Art story:
It's my wife's fault,
I say that because she's the one who signed me up for art lessons one year for my birthday.
She's also the one that reminded me of my mom's talent and how I sketched and painted as a kid. I was even more surprise one day at a local fair that I sold one of my pieces of artwork for $300. My Art career has taken off since then, winning local art shows and selling my art all over the United States . I have my wife to thank for this career and I thank God for her encouragement.

" AZALEAS & MAPLES " SOLD

We are having a beautiful spring this year for our Azaleas. Here I have captures red and white ones or I should say the sun has captured them. What a beautiful scene with the red Japanese maple above it. If you don't have azaleas in your area they can be white, red and pink flowers bushes. My mom had a Japanese maple in the yard they are also very unique and colorful. They don't grow very big and they have a very unique shaped leaf very long fingers." HAT TREE. SOLD

Here's something you don't see painted every day. Hat Rack full of family favorites ready for the next outing. Was thinking about the opportunity to paint all theses different colors and styles all at once. Changed some of the hat colors to protect the innocent no just to have better color harmony. Ant thought comment feel free.

Lots to see and look at as we journeyed for miles once in a wile you would see and roadrunner or rabbit a few birds.  Painted by Artist Doug Carter,. Oil Painting 7 X 5 .

" JAMMING ". SOLD

There is nothing like music to bring in the new year, that made me think of this painting. Jamming with a old school base was wonderful to listen to. I could tell he went to another world as he closed his eyes and was just taken away the sound..

" Merry Christmas " SOLD

Can't say enough about this past year and how thankful I am for you. Enjoy the time with family and friends and if your without them know that God comforts those who seek him.

" Merry Christmas " 7 X 5 Oil Painting. I have painted summer and fall of this area now winter. However I will tell you its 70 + degrees out and the snow is not there. It helps to have an artistic license to paint what you want and not the actual . That may be why I enjoy this so much. Merry Merry Christmas to all.

" BUG SHACK" SOLD

Doug Carter Artist,.Fine Art " Bug Shack " 7 X 5 Board,.

This is a Snow Cone shack that has a rainbow painted bug as advertisement. Well it worked because it certainly caught my eye in a big way. The trick with this painting was to decide what to add and take out of the painting. I loved the shack and loved the Volkswagen couldn't make a decision. So as you can see I decided a little of both would work. Next was the value decisions the back side of the shack was to dark so I had to change it and give a little depth. May have painted the trees in the background to warm as well . I still want  to paint the bug by itself with all the colors going in and out of shadow quite the challenge. This is what I love about painting, each one brings new opportunities and challenges. You painters out there let me know what is your hardest challenge to paint.
